There's always something going on in purchasing

What is your job title?

Purchasing

What is your job about?

I make sure that our production is supplied with raw materials and supplies so that we can produce and ship our customer orders on time. In other words, providing the right materials in the right quality at the right prices in the right quantity at the right time in the right place.
But researching alternatives, procuring drinks and coffee, checking invoices and regular exchanges with other departments are also part of my daily routine.
And, of course, ordering ice cream for the staff in the summer 😊

What is the coolest thing about your job?

Since I work operationally, every day offers new challenges. Also, Purchasing is a department that works with many other departments, so it stays exciting and you always learn something new.

What challenges does your job bring with it?

Since I started at Schulz & Sohn, there have been a few challenges that we have had to overcome. In 2019 we had Brexit, in 2020 the Corona pandemic started, the effects of which we are still feeling today. And this year we have a war in Europe, which has a massive impact on energy supply, if nothing else. Despite this, our goal has been to keep procurement costs low, ensure on-time delivery through our supplies, always ensure the right and consistent quality of materials and pay attention to social and ethical criteria.

What does your career look like?

In the summers of 2015 and 2016, I already worked as a temp at Schulz & Sohn. After completing my vocational training as an industrial clerk, I started in purchasing in February 2019.

What achievements do you find remarkable?

I am pleased that Schulz & Sohn is open to training, further education and seminars. In addition, there is never a lack of coffee or company parties, for example at Christmas. But also the joint lunches organised by the employees are not a matter of course and contribute to a good working atmosphere.
