On Saturday, 13 August 2022, it was that time again. The association “Düsseldorf am Ruder” organised the big rowing day for people with cancer for the sixth time in Düsseldorf’s Media Harbour. The starting signal for the charity regatta was given punctually at 9.30 am. Over 100 teams – including three teams from Schulz & Sohn – rowed in the summer heat in aid of the NRW Cancer Society.
Thousands of visitors, especially our Schulz & Sohn fan base, supported the teams, which competed over a distance of 230 m in the harbour basin with four boats per race. The winning teams then rowed another 140 m distance to win their respective competition.
As always, the three teams from Schulz & Sohn were highly ambitious at the start. With joy and ambition, team “Hekto Zeng” made it to 2nd place, team “Black Pearl” took 10th place and team as “Nautilus” with our rowing novices was No. 32 – all in each case in the men’s competition.
Each team paid an entry fee to participate. The proceeds of the regatta will be used by the NRW Cancer Society for screening and counselling projects.
Our teams all agreed: “It was worth the fun for us”.
