Last year, during a CheckN workshop held in collaboration with staff from Schulz & Sohn, an important foundation was laid for the company’s future sustainability work. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are most relevant to the company were defined, with Schulz & Sohn playing an active role in their implementation.
A report on the workshop can be found here: Towards greater sustainability with CheckN – Schulz Chemie
These include:
1. No poverty
3. Good health and well-being
4. Quality education
8. Decent work and economic growth
9. Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
12. Responsible consumption and production
13. Climate action
Making sustainability visible in everyday life
From now on, and for the next seven months, one of these SDGs will be highlighted each month.
To this end, so-called SDG Labs (SDG information areas) have been set up in our canteen and in Hall 1. These offer:
- clear information on the respective goals
- concrete examples from everyday company life
- interactive ideas and hands-on activities
This not only conveys the concept of sustainability but also brings it to life directly in our daily working lives.
Current focus: SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
This month, the focus is on resource conservation and the conscious management of waste. The aim is to use resources efficiently and avoid waste wherever possible. In line with this, internal waste management training sessions have already been held, which addressed the topic of waste separation in a practical and interactive way.
Another key element is our ‘take and give’ cupboard. Here, items in good condition can be donated and reused by other staff members. A simple yet effective example of the circular economy in action in everyday life.
These measures make it clear that sustainability is a core value at Schulz & Sohn and is being implemented and developed step by step in the company’s day-to-day operations.
