Working together for sustainability: Our SDG Labs help make the Sustainable Development Goals part of our daily lives.

Sustainability thrives on people who develop ideas and make a difference together. With this in mind, Henriette and Viviane from the Sustainability Management team launched our SDG Labs in spring 2026.

Since then, each month has seen a different United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) take centre stage. Through activities, inspiration, and opportunities to get involved, sustainability becomes tangible and something our staff can experience firsthand.

As a company, we focus on seven SDGs that are particularly closely linked to our values and our actions:

  • No poverty (SDG 1)
  • Good health and well-being (SDG 3)
  • Quality education (SDG 4)
  • Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8)
  • Industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9)
  • Responsible consumption and production (SDG 12)
  • Climate action (SDG 13)

Learn, get involved, make a difference

The event kicked off with a waste management training session covering waste sorting, resource conservation and the mindful use of materials. The interactive quiz ‘Who Wants to Be a Rubbish Millionaire?’ generated particular enthusiasm. It was not only great fun but also provided many ‘aha’ moments and demonstrated just how keen people are to make their everyday working lives more sustainable.

3,700 kilometres for greater sustainability

A particular highlight was our participation in the 2026 City Cycling Challenge as part of

Together, our staff cycled more than 3,700 kilometres. The result: 88th place in the overall Düsseldorf ranking and 28th place amongst the participating companies. A success that shows what is possible when many people work together on sustainable solutions.

Hands-on climate action

In June, the focus is on SDG 13: “Climate Action”. Our SDG Labs offer insights into topics such as climate action, biodiversity and sustainable choices in everyday life.

Through a joint tree-planting initiative on our premises and the creation of a bee hotel, we are also making a visible contribution to promoting biodiversity.

What peatlands have to do with our future

Another inspiring event awaits us with a visit from an expert from Mission to Marsh. During this session, our staff will learn about the vital role peatlands play in climate action and why their protection is a key building block for a sustainable future.

Making an impact together

Month after month, our SDG Labs demonstrate that sustainability isn’t just about grand strategies but, above all, about people taking responsibility and putting ideas into practice.

We look forward to continuing on this path together and shaping our future in a sustainable way.
