Blue skies, sunshine, a brilliant atmosphere and plenty of team spirit: what a lovely day at the anniversary charity regatta ‘Düsseldorf at the Oars for People with Cancer’!
This special event took place in Düsseldorf’s Medienhafen for the tenth time, and of course we were there once again. No fewer than four teams competed for Schulz & Sohn, cheered on loudly by numerous colleagues.
Full commitment, even without water
Due to the low water level, this year’s regatta had to take place on rowing ergometers on land. However, this did nothing to dampen the good atmosphere.
Our teams gave it their all, and the many fans on site provided extra motivation with their support. Together, we cheered them on, shared in the excitement and celebrated every effort. This special atmosphere made the day a wonderful shared experience for us.
Four teams, four times the team spirit
Our four teams took to the start line with plenty of energy, ambition and, of course, a great deal of fun:
Glow & Row: Julia Kötting, Fred Kötting, Pia Mertens, Lynn-Marie Zapp
Verrückte Chemikalie: Piotr Jankiewicz, Marta Dorozinski, Daria Kruk, Dimitrij Michel
The 4 Amigos: Klaus Vitalis Schulz, Mark Sethe, Ahmed Laukili, Holger Nixdorf
Moana Motion: Axel Pütz, Stefan Krah, Elvira Guderian, Anna Wystup
All the teams represented Schulz & Sohn with total commitment and showed just how much fun doing sport together can be.
The costumes were particularly creative too. Our Moana Motion team took inspiration from the film *Moana* and brought a real holiday atmosphere to the Medienhafen with their Hawaiian-inspired outfits. Palm leaves, shell necklaces, straw skirts and wigs for the gentlemen were, of course, a must.
And there was cause for celebration on the sporting front too: Glow & Row secured an impressive second place in the Women’s Beginners category out of a total of 32 teams. A superb achievement – our heartfelt congratulations!
The best fans right by the side of the course
A special thanks should go to all the fans who supported our teams on the day. You were loud, enthusiastic and made the fantastic atmosphere even more special.
Whether it was cheering on the teams together, giving them a shout-out or celebrating the individual races: it was lovely to see how many people came together to support our teams.
Together for a good cause
Amidst all the excitement of the sporting competition, one thing took centre stage above all else: doing something good together.
Through our participation, we are supporting the Krebsgesellschaft NRW e.V. and, in doing so, the vital work they do for people with cancer and their families. It was all the more wonderful to combine this commitment with such a special day spent together.
Thank you for the wonderful memories
A heartfelt thank you also goes to offenblende.agency, who documented the day with photographs and captured many special moments for us.
You can find more photos at offenblende.agency and in the official photo gallery of ‘Düsseldorf am Ruder’.
For us, what remains above all is the memory of a sunny day spent with stunning people, great team spirit, creative costumes and plenty of good cheer.
And one thing is already clear: after the regatta is before the regatta!
It all continues on 4 September 2027, and we’re already looking forward to taking part together again.
